rule no. 1:

respect the wood

Handcrafted. Custom. Quality.

Tables, benches, toy chests, cutting boards, butcher blocks, mantels... You name it, and chances are pretty good that I can make it from a beautiful piece of wood. No matter what I'm building (or refinishing), my goal is to create a piece you will love and keep forever. Have an idea in mind? Contact me. I'd love to help you bring your vision to life.

I was so in love with my custom cutting board, I had to get another one as a gift! Both were handmade beautifully and with such care. Born on Monroe was fantastic to work with, and even gave detailed instructions on care and maintenance. I will continue to use them for more custom wood projects!

Amazing wood working. Made a table for me and it came out even better than expected.

You know when you’ve got something unique and people come into your house and go...’where did you get that?!’ You get to brush your shoulders and go ‘ahhh...custom built. Only one of its kind.’ That’s how I feel about my charcuterie board and bar cart tray. Unique, beautiful, and noticeably well crafted from afar or up close.

They made a great Charcuterie board for my wife and I and it’s a centerpiece in our kitchen now. Great skill, highly recommended.

Great quality work! Stuff that will last you a lifetime!

"Measure twice, cut once." That's my simple way of saying that from start to finish of a project, I take great care at every stage of the building process in order to avoid costly mishaps. I pride myself on consistently communicating so that you can see the progression of your build come to life.

About Me

Hey, nice to meet you

I'm David, the owner and craftsman behind Born On Monroe Woodworks. I'm a US Navy Veteran and Hoosier, living in San Diego, California. My love for woodworking started at a young age, working alongside my Grandpa Connors as he built things. Now as an adult, I'm taking the skills he taught me and putting them to good use as I build custom pieces for others.
